Melt Room – It never melt so good…

The hidden gem of Soho. What better way to satisfy your savoury cravings than eating an artisan-grilled cheese sandwich? Or even your sweet tooth with a combination of peanut butter and jelly melt, grilled between sliced milk bread?

Only using the finest and freshest ingredients (and where possible locally sourced) this is a must visit when you’re next in Soho. Melt Room is the first of its kind in London and since it opened its doors in 2015 its popularity has grown. With almost 4,000 followers on Twitter and numerous pieces of press coverage, it gives a real insight into how popular this concept is becoming. Buzzfeed.com rated Melt room as number 14 in its poll on grilled cheeses you must try before you die.

They do more than just the classic cheese toasties with loads of exciting combinations to choose from. I decided to try something a little different- ‘Roast Beetroot’ toasty filled with hummus, broad beans, feta & rocket; sandwiched between 2 slices of artisan sourdough bread; this really was a winning combination!

This trend is very popular, so it doesn’t come as a surprise that just down the street a new grilled cheese sandwich bar will soon switch on its grills and open its doors to the public. With no sneak preview of the menu it’s hard to see just how similar the offer at ‘Pickle and Toast’ will be. All that’s been said is it will be the finest grilled cheese in Soho. So we will have to wait and see what they bring to the table… or grill!

This is a true example of how good a simple offer can be – if done right!
